Very Short Answer Type Questions (Question 11 to 16)
Instructions- Answer the following questions in one word/sentence. Each question carries 2 marks.
Q.11 Find the value: (-5 / 4) ÷ (3 / 7)2
Solution:
= (-5 / 4) × (7 / 3)
= (-5 × 7) / (4 × 3)
= -35 / 12
Q.12 Solve the equation: 2x – 2 = 62
Solution:
2x = 6 + 2
2x = 8
x = 8 / 2 ⇒ x = 4
Q.13 Write the exponential form of 16.2
Solution:
16 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 24 (or 42)
Q.14 Write perfect square numbers between numbers 40 and 100.2
Solution:
The perfect squares between 40 and 100 are:
72 = 49
82 = 64
92 = 81
Q.15 Find the value of (-4)3.2
Solution:
(-4)3 = (-4) × (-4) × (-4) = -64
Q.16 Which graph represent the relationship between dependent variable and independent variable?2
Solution:
A Line Graph represents the relationship between a dependent and an independent variable.

Short Answer Type Questions (Question 17 to 22)
Instructions : Answer the following questions. Each question carries 3 marks.
Q.17 Find the value-
(-3 / 4) × { (2 / 3) × (-5 / 6) }
3
Solution:
First, solve the brackets:
(2 / 3) × (-5 / 6) = -10 / 18 = -5 / 9
Now multiply:
= (-3 / 4) × (-5 / 9)
= 15 / 36
= 5 / 12
Q.18 Solve the Equation ?
5x + 4 = 24 + 3x
3
Solution:
5x – 3x = 24 – 4
2x = 20
x = 20 / 2 ⇒ x = 10
Q.19 Find the Smallest number by which 256 must be multiplied to obtain a perfect cube.3
Solution:
Prime factorization of 256:
256 = (2 × 2 × 2) × (2 × 2 × 2) × 2 × 2
Here, one triplet is incomplete (we only have two 2’s).
To make it a perfect cube, we need to multiply by one more 2.
Smallest number = 2
Q.20 Out of 25 students 72% students like Mathematics. Find the number of students who like Mathematics.3
Solution:
Total students = 25
Students who like Math = 72% of 25
= (72 / 100) × 25
= 72 / 4
= 18 students
Q.21 Using the table given below, draw a line graph showing the relationship between length of a side and perimeter of a square.3
Length of side (in cm) 2 3 4 5
Perimeter (in cm) 8 12 16 20
Solution / Graph Instructions:
Draw X-axis and Y-axis on graph paper.
1. Take Length of side on the X-axis (Scale: 1 unit = 1 cm). Mark points 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
2. Take Perimeter on the Y-axis (Scale: 1 unit = 4 cm). Mark points 4, 8, 12, 16, 20.
3. Plot coordinates: (2, 8), (3, 12), (4, 16), and (5, 20).
4. Join the points. You will get a straight linear graph passing through the origin.
Q.22 Find the value of 852 using “Ekadhiken poorven” method.3
Solution:
In Vedic math for numbers ending in 5:
Number = 85
Left part = 8 × (8 + 1) = 8 × 9 = 72
Right part = 5 × 5 = 25
Combining both: 7225

Long Answer Type Questions (Question 23 to 26)
Instructions : Answer the following questions. Each question carries 5 marks.
Q.23 Multiply (a2 + 2b2) and (5a – 3b).5
Solution:
= (a2 + 2b2)(5a – 3b)
Distribute terms:
= a2(5a – 3b) + 2b2(5a – 3b)
= 5a3 – 3a2b + 10ab2 – 6b3
= 5a3 – 3a2b + 10ab2 – 6b3
Q.24 How much cloth will be needed to cover a suitcase of dimensions 80cm × 48cm × 24cm.5
Solution:
Cloth required = Total Surface Area (TSA) of the suitcase.
l = 80 cm, b = 48 cm, h = 24 cm
TSA = 2(lb + bh + hl)
= 2(80×48 + 48×24 + 24×80)
= 2(3840 + 1152 + 1920)
= 2(6912)
= 13824 cm2
So, 13824 cm2 of cloth is needed.
Q.25 The length of shadow of 14 m long pole on ground is 10 meter under similar conditions find the length of a tree whose shadow is 15 meter long.5
Solution:
This is a case of direct proportion.
Height of pole / Shadow of pole = Height of tree / Shadow of tree
Let tree height be x meters.
14 / 10 = x / 15
Cross multiplying: 10 × x = 14 × 15
10x = 210
x = 210 / 10 = 21 m
The length (height) of the tree is 21 meters.
Q.26 Factorize?
3m2 + 9m + 6
5
Solution:
3m2 + 9m + 6
Take 3 common:
= 3(m2 + 3m + 2)
Split middle term (3m = 2m + 1m):
= 3(m2 + 2m + 1m + 2)
= 3[m(m + 2) + 1(m + 2)]
= 3(m + 1)(m + 2)
